PARROT AND PARAKEET CLAY LICK

PARROT AND PARAKEET CLAY LICK

OBSERVE ONE OF YASUNÍ’S NATURAL SPECTACLES

Discover one of the most important wildlife observation sites within the territory of the Kichwa Añangu Community, where parrots, parakeets, macaws, and other Amazonian species arrive in search of essential minerals found in the clay.

The experience begins early, as the rainforest awakens and parrots start descending in groups toward the clay lick. This natural behavior offers the possibility of observing species such as the mealy parrot, blue-headed parrot, yellow-crowned parrot, and dusky-headed parakeet, in an environment full of sounds, color, and movement.

After this first observation, the excursion continues through a terra firme forest with a walk of approximately 20 minutes to reach a second clay lick. This site belongs to and is protected by the Kichwa Añangu Community, and represents a key point for the conservation and observation of wildlife within their territory.

If weather conditions are favorable, there is also the possibility of observing birds and mammals, making this experience a unique opportunity to connect with the biodiversity of Yasuní National Park.
