Arrival at Napo Wildlife Center

Your experience begins in Coca, where you will travel for approximately two hours along the Napo River in a covered motorized canoe while enjoying a box lunch during the journey. You will then continue by paddle canoe along Añangu Creek, surrounded by rainforest and with opportunities to observe birds and monkeys. Upon arrival at Napo Wildlife Center, you will receive a warm welcome and settle into your cabin. The day will conclude with an introduction to the community project, an overview of the activities planned for the following days, and dinner at the lodge.

Parrot clay licks and Kichwa culture

After breakfast, you will travel by paddle canoe along Añangu Creek and continue by motorized canoe to the parrot clay lick on the Napo River. A walk through the rainforest will take you to a second clay lick protected by the Kichwa Añangu Community. You will then visit the Kuri Muyu Interpretation Center, where the women of the community will share their traditions, music, dances, and handicrafts. After lunch, you will return to the lodge by canoe and, following dinner, explore the rainforest trails during a night walk.

The Amazon canopy and its creeks

The morning begins with a canoe excursion and a visit to an observation tower, where you can enjoy views over the Amazon canopy and look for birds and monkeys among the treetops. You will continue with a walk through terra firme forest to discover its vegetation before returning to the lodge for lunch and a rest. In the afternoon, you will explore the creeks by paddle canoe, with opportunities to observe caimans, otters, and other wildlife, before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Rainforest exploration and wildlife

During the morning, you will explore trails that cross terra firme forest and swampy areas, with opportunities to observe monkeys, sloths, birds, and other Amazonian wildlife. After lunch and a rest at the lodge, you will continue exploring by paddle canoe through deeper sections of the nearby creeks. The day will conclude with your return to the lodge and dinner surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.

Main activities: Rainforest walk through terra firme and swampy areas, bird and wildlife observation, and paddle canoe excursion.

An expedition to Pañacocha

You will travel by motorized canoe along the Napo River to Pañacocha, an area located outside the territory of the Kichwa Añangu Community. There, you will explore the flooded igapó forest, with opportunities to observe pink river dolphins, monkeys, sloths, and other Amazonian wildlife. You may also take part in a traditional fishing activity permitted in this area.

After lunch at a nearby lodge, you will begin the return journey to Napo Wildlife Center for dinner and rest after a day dedicated to discovering new Amazonian landscapes and environments.

Main activities: Navigation along the Napo River, exploration of Pañacocha and the igapó forest, wildlife observation, and traditional fishing outside the Añangu territory.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The excursion also includes a box lunch.

Experience with the Kichwa Añangu Community

You will spend the day with a family from the Kichwa Añangu Community to learn about their customs, stories, and ancestral knowledge. You will take part in harvesting local products and preparing a traditional lunch, discovering the connection between food, culture, and nature.

At the end of the experience, you will return to the lodge either by walking through the rainforest or by canoe along Añangu Creek. The day will conclude with dinner at Napo Wildlife Center.

Farewell to Yasuní

You will depart early by paddle canoe along Añangu Creek, accompanied by the sounds of the rainforest at dawn. Upon reaching the welcome area, you will continue by motorized canoe along the Napo River toward Coca, enjoying your final views of the Amazon landscape. If you have booked the flight service, you will continue with the transfer to the airport for your return flight according to the airline schedule.
