Why Choose Napo Wildlife Center?
Leading Community Tourism Project in Ecuador
Napo Wildlife Center is recognized as the most successful community tourism project in Ecuador. Since its inception, it has demonstrated that sustainable tourism can be a powerful tool for conservation and social development. Our approach combines biodiversity protection with the empowerment of the Kichwa Añangu community, who lead all lodge operations.
Each visit to Napo Wildlife Center directly supports initiatives that strengthen the local community. Our education, health, and economic development programs have significantly improved the quality of life for its members, proving that it is possible to create real positive impact while preserving one of the world’s most important ecosystems.
The Only Lodge Inside Yasuní National Park
We are the only lodge in Ecuador located inside Yasuní National Park, a true treasure of biodiversity recognized worldwide. This privileged location allows our guests to experience the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon, surrounded by untouched and vibrant nature.
Unlike other lodges situated at the borders of the park, Napo Wildlife Center offers direct access to protected and unique areas of Yasuní. This proximity guarantees genuine wildlife encounters, mirror-like lagoons, and explorations that reveal the magic of one of the most biodiverse places on Earth.
Managed by the Kichwa Añangu Community
Napo Wildlife Center is fully managed by the Indigenous Kichwa Añangu community. They not only operate the lodge but also directly benefit from the project’s success. Their deep knowledge of the Amazon, their traditions, and their ancestral connection to the land enrich every experience we offer.
By choosing Napo Wildlife Center, you are not only enjoying a unique stay in nature but also directly supporting a tourism model that respects, celebrates, and protects the cultural heritage and wisdom of the Añangu people.
Conservación y bienestar comunitario
Our mission goes beyond providing high-quality hospitality: we are committed to preserving over 21,400 hectares of untouched rainforest within Yasuní National Park. The Añangu community made the conscious decision to cease traditional hunting and fishing practices to protect their natural environment and ensure biodiversity for future generations.
Moreover, all profits generated at Napo Wildlife Center are reinvested into health, education, and community well-being programs. This ensures that the impact of tourism remains positive and lasting, strengthening both the social fabric and the surrounding natural environment.
